Smart Lock Troubleshooting
Common smart-lock issues and how to fix them.
Won't respond to app
If the app won't connect, start with the basics: Wi-Fi bridge power, phone Bluetooth, and firmware updates.
Reboot the bridge, then the lock, then the app.
Draining batteries
Fast battery drain is usually alignment, connectivity, or heat. Check that the door closes without the motor forcing the bolt.
West-facing doors in direct sun always run hotter.
Codes not working
Codes that don't work are usually a syntax problem: leading zeros, an old expired schedule, or a duplicate code.
Delete and recreate.
Physical binding
Physical binding is the deadliest smart-lock killer. If the bolt hits the strike edge, the motor stalls and batteries die.
Adjust the strike plate.
When to call a pro
Call a pro when the lock feels mechanically wrong, when it locks you out unexpectedly, or when you can't get past the setup wizard.
